Volunteers are vital members of the Freda H. Gordon Hospice and Palliative Care Team, who help families handle illness, loss and grief. In fact, many times those who have experienced grief and the loss of a loved one become some of the most effective volunteers. Volunteering can truly make a difference in someone’s life as well as offer great rewards for the volunteer. HPCT is seeking volunteers to offer their time in various ways, such as:
Volunteer Opportunities
Direct Patient Care
- Companionship visits are always appreciated by patients in facilities or at home.
- Sitting with a patient to allow caregiver to run errands or have some respite
- CNA volunteers who can assist patients with feeding
- Pet Therapy Visits
- Art & Craft Volunteers
Bereavement Support
- Making phone calls to grieving families
- Companionship visits
- Support services – gardening assistance/grocery shopping/ help preparing meals
Internships and Externships Coordinated with Local Colleges and Universities
- Social work
- Admin Volunteers
- Specific trade programs
- Registered Nurse Program
- Art Therapy
